Thoughts on Developer's Letter #6: hopes for the new content and my honest take

Published:

Developer's Letter #6 was announced in-game. This time, it introduces three things: Dimension Arena, permanent mini-games, and Summoner Mastery. They are being prepared with a November update in mind, but they are still in development, so the details may change.

Dimension Arena: will I have time for it? (laughs)

Dimension Arena is asynchronous PvP where you fight with dedicated monsters and equipment separate from your own collection. It will have one-month seasons, with monsters and equipment reset at the end. The rules and the monsters available to summon are also planned to change each season.

My first impression is that it feels like an Arena version of the existing Challenge Battle, with a progression element added. I think the key will be whether people like the idea of everyone building up from scratch over the course of a month.

Still, there is already so much content that I feel like I might not be able to keep up if they add even more (laughs).

For me, the main attraction of Summoners War is World Arena! I'm sure plenty of people spend their days farming dungeons to climb the ranks. Of course, some people focus on PvE too, but World Arena is what I play the most, followed by the Cairos Dungeon.

Guild content is what I haven't been able to get around to much… oops. Sorry, everyone in my guild.

Honestly, I think some content barely gets played, so I hope they give Dimension Arena a thorough round of adjustments before releasing it.

I'm happy to be able to play SUMMON DICE again

The plan is to make the mini-games SUMMON DICE and Mini-game Heaven permanently available.

SUMMON DICE was pretty fun, so I'm happy I'll get to play it again. This time, they say there will be new bosses and an endless mode where you can see how far you can go.

As for Mini-game Heaven… I don't remember it (laughs).

I'd like Mastery to show all my dungeon runs so far

Summoner Mastery is a feature that lets you check scores for things like collecting and developing equipment and monsters, as well as PvE and PvP records. I thought it sounded good, since it could help motivate people to keep playing.

Personally, I'd love to know how many dungeon runs I've done so far. I could compare with my guildmates, and I'm kind of curious (laughs). My guess for myself is around 40,000 runs. Not many (laughs).

I'd also like to see how many summoning scrolls I've used over the years. We don't yet know whether total dungeon runs or summon counts will be shown, but I'd be happy if the feature let us check those things too.

PS: Recently, the system for my Giant's Keep farming team broke, so I'm adjusting it again 💦
